Telangana to expand metro rail network with ₹60,000 crore

Telangana: Hyderabad’s metro network will get a boost as the state government decides to expand the network by ₹60,000 crore over the next three to four years. The government has also suggests to set up a second civil airport at Hakimpet and grant land for the Warangal airport.

We appeal to the union board to consider converting the Hakimpet defense airport into a civilian airport. The city deserves a second airport,” said Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao.

The 5:30 hour marathon board meeting is called before the August 3rd council meeting. “Two double-decker metro lines (one level metro track and the other expressway) will be constructed to connect Jubilee Bus Stand with Tumkunta and Patny Kandlakoya,” KTR said.

“We are asking the federal government for financial assistance for the metro expansion project. If they respond, that will help. Or we will go ahead and undertake the project ourselves,” he said.

In a major development, the government has decided to induct 43,373 employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) into government service. A subcommittee was formed to prepare more detailed admission rules. “We took the resolution to introduce them to strengthen the public transport system of the country”, he said.

The government has asked the authorities to prepare a detailed assessment of the damage caused by the recent rains and floods. “The prime minister has allotted 500 million euros for aid, rehabilitation and rescue work.

The government will give free aid to the families of 40 people who lost their lives in the rain,” he said. The State Council also decided to draft an orphan policy, according to which all orphans are treated as children of the state. The government would look after their welfare.
